Blencathra - up Sharp Edge and down Hall's Fell

In terms of distance (about 5.5 miles) and runnability (running up Sharp Edge is a bit tricky to say the least) this little outing probably doesn't count for much but, as far as fantastic routes up and down a mountain go, it just doesn't get any better than this. Especially in today's pretty much perfect weather.  A real humdinger!

Blencathra ahoy

Harry in his element

Sharp Edge on the horizon

Looking sharpy and edgey

Climbing up there proved to be a doddle for Harry the mountain dog

Looking back along Sharp Edge

Harry glad to have got to the top of Sharp Edge (it wasn't really a doddle)

Galloping to the summit of Blencathra

The summit view of Threlkeld from where we started out

Posing as usual

Sun burst over the Lake District

Peek-a-boo

Harry enjoying the view

Not a bad view as it happens

Looking back up Hall's Fell

Say cheese

Nearly down now

A Horton-in-Ribblesdale sandwich

After having last weekend off from running, this weekend it was business as usual with two cracking runs from home - Plover Hill and Pen y Ghent on Saturday and Moughton and Sulber Nick on Sunday. So boggy as flip one day and rocky as flip the other!

Plenty of flapping going on

Today's run up up Whernside from Ribblehead viaduct

A cracking run with Hester and the boy this morning up Whernside from Ribblehead - up the steep old walker's track and back down the long looping newer walker's track. Fabdabbydablous!

Looking back at Park Fell, Simon Fell and Ingleborough

Hester still running at the point

Haz and Hes forging on

Leaving Ribblehead far behind now

It gets steep nearer the top (with Ingleborough on the horizon)

Leaving Hester and harry to eat my dust

Finally on the top of the ridge

...and speeding up a bit now

Such a fantastic ridgeline to run

Faster than a speeding bullet.....

Ingeborough is always in sight

Harry kissing time

Paddling
