Tour de Thirlmere

After Saturday's shenanigans up on the tops, on Sunday Hester, Harry and I decided to opt out of another wind blasted visit to the summits and, as we were in that neck of the woods, do a run around the edge of Thirlmere instead. Its an absolutely glorious 11 mile route along wooded trails, never straying very far from the lake side, and, even though you'd expect a lake side trail to be pretty flat, we managed to climb about 1,600 feet all told, helped by a visit to the top of Great How as part of our circuit.

A lovely trot out followed by tea and cake at Low Sizergh Barn near Kendal (where we bumped into Nigel and a limping Pat from the day before). Its a very popular tea rooms and farm shop with the added advantage of a cow milking barn viewing area with a "cow cam" set up in the tea room itself (yes, really!).

Feeling knackered!

Mossy stone walls with knobs on!

Watch out for 'gators
