A cracking and stupendously muddy run around a loop de loop, uppy downy, inny outy tour of pretty much the whole of Sutton Bank with Gavin and Hester and Harry on Saturday. In fact our route was contrived on the hoof by Gavin, our team leader and a local to these hear parts in the North York Moors, with Gavin adding on a loop here or side mission there almost as the whim took him.
We started off from the National Park Centre at the top of Sutton Bank, with Mark, Stewart, Brett and Basil acting as pacers for the first 6 miles before branching off and leaving us, the 'hard' core, to then plod on for a further 14 miles. And gee whiz there was just so much mud to splatter through all the way round, which mentally made the 20 miles and 3,500 feet or so of ascent feel what seemed like 30% tougher!

Soon after the start, looking down on Gormire (a lake our route took us round twice) |

In reality this bit wasn't as muddy as the rest of the run! |

Muddy legs and paws |

Hester sprinting up the very last climb. I'm not at all sure she sprinted up all of it! |
